Hall of Honor
Mission Statement:
The goal of the Aztec Schools Hall of Honor is to recognize Aztec Municipal School District Alumni and Staff who have distinguished themselves by their contributions in their fields, work/study, or community in a manner that enhances students' achievement and development. By honoring these positive role models, we hope to inspire current students.
Aztec Schools Hall of Honor Inductees
All Inductees must have graduated a minimum of 5 years prior to induction must not be a current employee of the Aztec Municipal School District, and must meet at least one of the following criteria:
1. Must have excelled in activities and/or a successful professional career within the District that promoted student excellence and growth and exemplified Aztec pride and spirit.
2. Must have been recognized during his/her career by other peers, colleagues, media, and/or other school-related associations.
3. Must demonstrate a long-standing commitment to serving the school community.
Selection Committee:
Shall consist of seven representatives including one Board member, the Superintendent and five others of different constituencies, age groups, gender, ethnicity, and professional background (may include former coaches, administrators, teachers, community advocates, and or business people).
A selection committee member, during and following his/her career, must have exemplified the attitude and conduct that is a credit to the Aztec Municipal School District, and must meet the following criteria:
1. Exemplary achievements and recognition in their chosen field that have positively contributed to student success.
2. Outstanding citizenship or meritorious contributions to society in the educational field.
3. Exhibit qualities of leadership that contribute to student development and achievement.
The committee meets in February, March, April, and May of every year. Selection of inductees will take place every year in May. The committee selects its chairperson, vice chair and secretary and fills vacancies as needed. Committee member terms are to four years. The committee keeps records of all proceedings. The committee’s major responsibilities are to (1) establish criteria for election to the Hall of Honor; (2) encourage nominations; (3) publicize the Hall of Honor throughout the community; (4) review and evaluate nominations and select inductees; (5) vote for filling Committee vacancies (5) schedule and conduct Induction ceremonies.
Nominations and selections: Nominations for inductees may be submitted by any interested group or individual, including members, by April 1st of every year. Nominations must be submitted via Aztec Schools website for the committee to review. The committee will induct two individual per calendar year.
Hall of Honor Application

Mike Everrett a 1982 graduate who was an outstanding Student/Athlete and band member while attending Aztec Schools is a Major League umpire, he had called the Wildcard game between Washington and the Brewers on Tuesday October 1st behind the plate and was in Aztec Friday night for homecoming to receive his induction with his family, mother and sister. Outstanding Young man who I had the privilege to have personally taught and coached.

Dr. Jennifer Randell (Blackmer) she was a 1988 graduate and as well an outstanding student, honor grad. Who won the David Whitney memorial scholarship (David Whitney was the grandson of CV Koogler and one of my best friends who died his senior year in a car accident) Jennifer went on to NMSU to be a Professor in molecular Biology and is internationally renowned for her studies and body of work. I had her as well in my sociology class.

It is with great pride and admiration that Aztec Municipal Schools announces the induction of Sherri Sipe and Judge Karen Townsend into the Hall of Honor. Their dedication, exceptional contributions, and remarkable achievements have not only shaped our organization but have also set a standard of excellence that inspires us all. As we celebrate their induction, we reflect on their profound impact, leadership, and the lasting legacy they have left within our community. Their names now join the esteemed roster of AMSD Hall of Honor members, embodying the values of integrity, passion, and commitment that define our organization's spirit.
