Thank you for all your patience and understanding as we worked out a plan to get students back on campus.
As of right now, the plan is to bring students back on campus on Monday, March 3rd. Our staff is working extremely hard to make this a reality and barring any further network complications, we will be able to move forward with this plan.
Parents: we will inform you by Sunday at 6pm if this is not the case. If you do not hear from us, that means school is a GO for Monday, March 3rd!

Park Avenue Parents and Families,
We regret to inform you that we must reschedule the 4th Grade Music Concerts originally scheduled for Monday, March 3rd and Tuesday, March 4th, due to students not having received enough practice time and we want to ensure they have the opportunity to have the best performance.
We will send out an updated date and time for the concert as soon as possible.

Dear AMSD Students and Families,
We would like to clarify some important information regarding the current situation at Aztec Municipal School District.
At this time, we are experiencing a complete network outage, which has severely limited our access to email and other online tools. As a result, virtual classes and email-based packet distribution are currently unavailable.
We understand that packet pick-up may be difficult for some families. To assist, we have arranged for home packet delivery for those unable to pick them up during the scheduled times.
Please contact your student’s school or the Central Office to request home delivery by 3pm today (2/26), and we will ensure your packet is delivered to your home address on 2/27.
If home delivery or pick-up does not work for you, please call the Central Office at 505-334-9474, ext. 1020, and we will work together to find a solution. Additionally, students who are able to drive may pick up their own packets.
We would like to share some additional information regarding student attendance. As part of our efforts to meet the state requirements set by the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) for instructional hours, we previously communicated that packet completion would count toward students’ attendance. This decision is driven by the NMPED requirement of 1,140 instructional hours, and we are actively collaborating with them to ensure that this week’s learning activities count as instructional time. Our goal is to avoid the need to extend the school year.
To accomplish this, it is important for us to have a reliable method to track student participation. After working closely with the NMPED, we’ve determined that tracking attendance through packet completion is the most effective way to gather this necessary information. By collecting attendance in this way, we can meet the required instructional hours without the need to extend the school year, alter vacation days, or lengthen school days — all of which we have previously received valuable community feedback about.
Once we can ensure the safety of all students on-site, we will reopen schools and resume normal operations.

Vista Nueva Students and Families,
We are very sorry for all the disruption caused during this week. Along with the messaging sent to all AMSD students and families we wanted to clarify a few things:
VNHS Prom will still be taking place on Saturday, March 1st from 7p-11pm at the Elk’s Lodge in Farmington. Tickets are $10, cash only and will be sold at the door. In addition, if you are taking an out school date please contact your advisor to get more information.
Exhibitions will be rescheduled and internships for the week will be cancelled.

Dear AMSD Students and Families,
We understand that this week has caused significant disruption, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the ongoing network issues.
Due to the continued network outage, which is impacting critical safety systems such as door security and monitoring student health and safety, we have made the decision to transition to paper-based, at-home learning for the remainder of the week for all students.
Packets for at-home learning will be available for pickup on Wednesday, February 26th from 8am-3pm at the bus lane of your student’s site. Grab-and-Go Breakfasts and Lunches will be available for the rest of the week from 9 AM to 11 AM at the bus lane of your student’s school site. Packets will also be available during grab and go lunch pick up. AHS parents will need their child’s schedule for packet pick up. If you are unable to pick up a packet during the scheduled time, please contact your student’s site.
Completion of packet will count as student attendance for the week.
Parent Teacher Conferences will be canceled.
All athletics will continue as scheduled.
We know that this is a significant inconvenience, and we truly miss having our students on campus. Please know we are working diligently to resolve the issue and return to normal operations as quickly as possible. We deeply appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time.

Dear AMSD Students and Families,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the ongoing network disruption. To ensure that normal operations can resume, students will not be attending school on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. We are actively working to resolve the issues and ensure the safety of all students and staff on campus. We will update students and families about resuming normal operations by 3pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Grab and Go Breakfast and Lunches will be available for pickup from 9 AM to 10AM at the students' site by the bus lane. Additionally, the Aztec Lady Tigers Basketball District Game will continue as scheduled.

We would like to take a moment to clarify the purpose behind the "emergency incident" alert notifications, particularly in light of recent questions and concerns.
We understand that seeing emergency vehicles on a school campus can understandably cause concern for families and the broader community. To ease worries and promote transparency, we aim to provide notifications about incidents on campus whenever we can.
In instances where a student experiences a medical emergency—whether it’s a minor injury or a more serious situation—the Aztec School Health Team assesses the need for further medical attention. If necessary, Emergency Services are contacted to ensure the well-being of the student. Our priority is always to work closely with the impacted family and Emergency Services to address the situation quickly and effectively.
Once the situation is under control and the student is safe, we send out an alert to keep the community informed. At the same time, please know that we prioritize the privacy and safety of the student involved, which is why specific details are kept confidential.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate these sensitive situations while keeping the best interests of our students and staff at heart.
